As agreed in Bogota, we had a regional activity to discuss the results on the Latin American situation collected through the Global Survey of Scientists and talk about the contents of the book “La brecha de género en Matemáticas, Computación y Ciencias Naturales: Un Abordaje desde América Latina”, that, with the edition of Lilia Meza (Puebla, Mexico) and Silvina Ponce Dawson (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was published by the Mexican Physical Society. The regional activity was held at the ICTP-SAIFR in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on October 7-11, 2019.
Regarding the survey, it was open from May through December, 2018, and collected over 34,000 responses (4,034 from Latin America). The book, on the other hand, contains contributions by the participants of the Regional Latin American Workshop that we had in Bogotá, Colombia, in November 2017.
Participants of the workshop at the ICTP-SAIFR were also able to showcase the initiatives and efforts carried on in their countries and disciplines to reduce the gender gap in science and increase diversity in STEM.
Besides our regional workshop, there was a closing activity of the global project. It was held at the ICTP in Trieste Italy, on 4-8 November, 2019.
